Holiday Hooligans
Posted in Uncategorized on 11/22/2006 05:58 pm by Daniel HaganWhat is it about the holidays that brings out the crazy in people? I don’t mean the good “tie me up and spank me baby” crazy. I mean the “let me tail gate you while doing 80 on a congested highway” crazy. Let me assure you that tail gating is not an example I just pulled out of thin air, either.
I am an, *ahem*, “assertive” driver – no one is contesting this. But it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to realize that speeding + tailgating + congestion = Bad Idea ™. For some reason, no less than four different drivers couldn’t figure that out during my 15 mile trip to dinner. This includes one large commercial van which was less than five feet off my bumper while speeding in an area that is known for sudden traffic congestion (thanks to the bone-headed highway designs in Clarksburg).
While I enjoy owning the cars that I do, nights like tonight make me wish I owned a clunker for slamming into tailgaters. Let’s hope that people will be a little more sane tomorrow on my drive to Virginia.
